President Barzani and Michael Fallon Meet in Salahadin | |
Salahdin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, ( President Masoud Barzani received a military and diplomatic delegation from the United Kingdom headed by Michael Fallon, the Secretary of State for Defense. In additional to a number of UK military officials, the meeting was also attended by Mr. Frank Baker, the British Ambassador to Iraq.

During the meeting President Barzani reiterated his appreciation to the people and government of the United Kingdom for their support to the Kurdistan Region during these difficult times of fighting an existential war against the terrorists of the Islamic State. President Barzani added that the allies' support to the Kurdistan region has assisted the people and the armed forces of the Kurdistan Region tremendously and that such support shall remain in the memory of the people of the Kurdistan Region.

Mr. Fallon expressed his admiration for the bravery and courage of the Peshmerga forces and stated that the United Kingdom will continue to support the Iraqi and Kurdistan efforts to weaken and ultimately eradicate the terrorists of the Islamic State. He added that the terrorists pose a direct threat to the entirety of the free world and that the collective efforts to defeat them must continue.

President Barzani and Mr. Fallon also spoke of the Mosul operation and how that operation will drastically weaken the terrorists of the Islamic State as their presence, especially in Iraq will become much more limited. The President also noted that he sees the post-liberation planning of Mosul to be of immense significance and that the people of Mosul who have been suffering under the savagery of the terrorists for over two years deserve to lead better lives and look into a brighter future.
