President Barzani Receives UK Ambassador to Iraq | |
Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, ( President Masoud Barzani received a United Kingdom diplomatic delegation headed by Mr. Frank Baker, the UK ambassador to Iraq. During the meeting, President Barzani and Ambassador Baker spoke of the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, particularly the Mosul operation which is nearing its final stages. They also spoke of the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, especially after the military operations against the terrorists of the Islamic State. President Barzani reiterated his position of the importance of having a solid plan for post-liberation Mosul.

The President and Mr. Baker also spoke of the Kurdistan referendum for independence which is scheduled to take place on September 25. President Barzani stated that he plans for pursuing this important step for the Kurdistan Region through peaceful means and by way of dialogue with all concerned parties, especially Baghdad.
